9:30 am Registration and Fun  |  10:30 am Walking Begins

Friendship Walks is a 1.5 mile fun walk around the National Mall focused on ending homelessness in the Washington D.C. region. All proceeds benefit Friendship Place, a nonprofit organization that offers the most effective model for addressing homelessness, with innovative programs that empower participants to rebuild their lives, find homes, get jobs, and reconnect with friends, family, and the community, permanently!

This year, Friendship Walks will center on homelessness among youth who face a greater risk of experiencing drug addiction, trauma, suicide, sex-trafficking and other forms of exploitation when living on the street. Nationally, up to 40 percent of homeless youth receiving agency services identify as LGBTQ. Many of these young people are being forced out of their homes after coming out to family. We cannot allow them to be shut out from society for claiming who they are. Join us this Saturday in saying, ‘the community is here for you and all people experiencing homelessness.

Since 2014, Friendship Walks has raised over half a million dollars to help people in our area leave homelessness for housing. But, there is still work to be done, and we need your help to meet the urgent need in our area. Your donations and fundraising dollars will allow us to help individuals and families—many who are sleeping in cars, in shelters, or on the street today—find stable housing.

Registering for the walk is easy, and you can either walk with us or create your own team by inviting your friends, family, and coworkers. To register as an individual, click here. To start a team, click here. To join a team or donate to a team or individual, perform a search for the team, individual or company's name. Once registered, you will be given an option to register others into your team.

Together, we're going take one big step (several, actually) to ending homelessness in the DC region.
